Scat singing is often times the most difficult challenge for the budding jazz vocalist. While challenging, it is one of the most idiomatic and exciting skills that you can bring with you to the bandstand. My approach to scatting largely involves listening, transcribing, and interpreting pre-existing music. I also recommend the book Scat! by bob stoloff, a vocal educator from Berklee college in Boston.
